Hi there, my name is Derek Kimball (DesignBuddy) and I work as a graphic designer here in Nashville Tn. While I offer a variety of visual based services, my primary goal is to help small businesses achieve a more professional appearance and ultimately become more profitable through better logo design, branding, web and print design.
Services Offered:
Logo design, branding, web design, image editing, print design (brochures, album design, posters, flyers, stationary), photography, & more. To learn more please visit the “services” pages in the menu navigation at the top of this website.
Perks of hiring me:
- You will be working with me directly, and not juggled around between designers.
- Prompt communication; I typically respond to emails within a few hours, no longer than 24 hours.
- What you see is what you get. I don’t outsource any of my projects like some design companies.
- My design briefs help make sure you and I are on the same page. I value communication.
- I don’t like to cut corners or rush my projects. Quality design over quick design is my preference.
- My customers are treated with the same respect I expect when hiring a service professional.
- Because my overhead costs are less than larger design companies, my costs are typically lower.
A little bit about me:

During the past few years I’ve worked with a variety of people and business owners from here in Nashville and all over the country. What I love most about working as a freelance designer is the ability to have a lot of creative freedom and being able to work one on one with my clients. Not having a boss to answer to is a pretty good perk as well.
In 2000 I graduated from Alfred State College’s “Computer Art & Design” program, where my main focus of study was computer animation. Since that time I’ve deviated to more 2d based design (print and web), which has been mostly self taught through reading and a lot of hands on learning.
In a field that is ever changing, I continue to feed my brain and learn something new every day. My eventual goal is to of course continue offering the same design services I am now, but to also explore more hands on mediums such as apparel screen printing and wood carving (two things I’ve had an interest in but have yet to pursue).
Life’s not all work, so when I’m not pushing pixels I enjoy taking photos, reading what ever I can get my hands on, playing guitar, spending time with my girlfriend, and exploring the Tennessee outdoors.
