Incredible Kinetic Art Display

You may have already seen “Kenetic Rain”…a conceptual art piece that’s been on display at Changi Airport in Singapore for a couple of years now. If not, check out the short video above. The work that went into this exhibit is pretty extraordinary… a process that required a whole lot of computer programming and mechanical ingenuity.

The display consists of 608 raindrop modules, each with it’s own motor and encoder which keeps track of the raindrop’s positioning in space. The system is controlled by custom software that converts 3d rendered animation into real space movement.
